Our products are designed at the Artecology studio in beautiful Sandown Bay. We use recycled materials, natural cement and other ingredients to create a variety of concretes and anthropic stone. These are the basis for our sculptural habitats, bioreceptive renders, textures, and structural building materials with ecological functionality. We design and make metal fixings for retrofit installations and moulds and mould linings for both retrofit and new-build. We can provide objects as standard, straight from the catalogue, or customise and optimise for particular local conditions and objectives. Our work ranges from small and delicate designs for ecological enrichment to large-scale biologically favourable infrastructure. Our job is to make the built world better and deliver ecological gains for people and for wildlife, whatever the scale!
We offer an Artecology Audit of your site or project to explore with you the possibilities for ecological gain. We will help you to reuse and reimagine materials, buildings and infrastructure to deliver better results for wildlife within your existing maintenance regimes. Sometimes this is enough to get you started on your own approach to optimising urban and built spaces with simple adjustments. If the project develops further, we will design and install new constructed habitats (often upcycling waste materials from your own works) to maximise ecological activity according to your objectives and ambitions.
We provide Artecology Landscapes, designs and planting schemes to complement your built environment. Our approach will make the most of what you already have, optimise any new built habitats we have made with you, and introduces the right additional foodplant species to boost local wildlife value and aesthetic appeal without complicating your maintenance and inspection requirements.
All of our work brings with it the opportunity for Public Engagement and we are very experienced in how to make projects of any kind relevant and useful to stakeholders, communities and special audiences (for education for example). We can turn every element of our work with you into a point of positive contact with the people in your business environment where that fits your plans. But Artecology will always deliver new and enriched wildlife encounter experiences for those involved in or benefitting from your work - staff, stakeholders, the public; it is at the heart of what we do to connect people and the natural world through urban and built innovations.
And we do Training too. We can deliver workshop and seminar sessions for you and your teams, arming you with Artecology principles and practices that will unlock difficult sites, grow ecological gain and inspire your clients, investors and stakeholders.
